Kate B.D. is a poet and an artist who looks inside things such as wood, water, and stone. When she paints (on canvas or on reclaimed wood), she finds connections to her poetry. Thus, her art works are often titled from lines of poetry. 

 

Kate is a board member of the Long Island Poetry Collective and has edited their literary publication, Xanadu. Formally trained as a musician, Kate taught music for many years.  

 

Kate’s summer childhood was spent in the pine barrens South Jersey where she picked blueberries on her grandmother’s blueberry farm and swam in the Mullica River. She has a husband and two grown children.
